With the bountiful blessings of Lord Guruvayurappan, a group of devotees founded the Shri Guruvayurappan Bhakta Samaj in 1966, which was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act (1960) under certificate No.A-2757 (Bombay). It was subsequently resolved to construct a temple for Lord Guruvayurappan with manifold objectives of spiritual and cultural center with a hall for the pursuit and propagation of spiritual knowledge besides promoting the spirit of brotherhood and selfless service to the humanity. With due emphasis on the aforesaid objectives and as a preliminary step, a plot of land ad measuring about 497 sq.mtr. was acquired in May 2000 from CIDCO, at Plot 59A, Sector 29, Vashi, Navi Mumbai 400703
In the very next AGM, the Vashi based members of the Samaj completely took over the entire administration of the Samaj and also the responsibility of constructing the temple and the building. With full confidence and along with the abundant blessings of Lord Guruvaurappan and the excellent support of devoted devotees, a Balalayam was constructed in in 2006. Slowly and steadily the structural work of the first floor was taken up in the first phase and was completed in 2006. The Balalayam was consecrated on 2-2-2006 with adequate religious fervor under the guidance of our thantrik Shri Pottakuzhi Narayanan Namboodiri.
Again the Committee with full confidence and full support of the devotees marched forward and completed the second phase in 2009. The Temple Construction in complete Kerala style ambiance was entrusted to Shri Kanippayuur Kuttan Namboodiripad an expert in the field of vasthu and Kerala temple architecture in March 2009. It was only after the AadharashiulaPrathishta Pooja in June 2009 the construction actually got a good impetus.
The granite Sanctum-Sanctoram and a Mukamandapam for Lord Guruvayurappan alongwith the Srikovil work for the three upadevathas Ganapathi, Rajarajeswari and Ayyappan came to shape with the skillful artisans from Kerala giving their best. The second phase construction of Vashi Vaikundam-Shri Guruvayurappan Temple with all concreting and finishing work for the first and second floor and work for side wall for the temple hall and amenities was meticulously carried out with the available
resources and time frame.
The consecration of idols and samprokshanam for four revered sannidhis was performed during the period between 22-1-2010 and 2-2-2010. The Prana Prathishta of the Sannidhis was done on 27 January 2010
